JOB ADVERTISEMENT:  ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL / ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

 

Located in Laredo, Texas, United Day School is a coeducational elementary and middle school accredited by the Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools, certified by the Texas Education Agency.  Established in 1953, UDS has prepared generations of Laredoans for subsequent success in high school and post-secondary education, for professional achievement, and for positions of community leadership.  UDS seeks a highly qualified Assistant Principal / Athletic Director to help the Head of School in daily operations.  The successful candidate will have a record of effectiveness in a variety of educational/athletic settings.

Position Overview:

The Assistant Principal / Athletic Director (AP/AD) serves as physical plant manager and supervises the custodial personnel.  The AP/AD also serves as discipline officer, and effectively administers the existing UDS athletic policy and related programs.  The AP/AD also closely monitors emerging issues so that recommendations for modification to the UDS Athletic Policy and/or procedures are made in a timely manner to the Board of Trustees to ensure the UDS athletic program continually achieves the stated Success Measures.  The AP/AD reports to the Head of School.  The AP/AD may be asked to participate in the administration of the instructional program and support operations of the school.

Qualifications:

Minimum certification/education:

·         Master’s degree in educational administration and/or mid-management or other appropriate certificate or equivalent.

Special knowledge/skills:

·         Possess well developed inter-personal skills and be able to demonstrate experience in employing them with a variety of persons in a variety of circumstances.

·         Ability to manage plant facilities.

·         Must possess excellent communications, public relations, and interpersonal skills.

·         Excellent written and oral communication skills.

·         Strong organizational skills.

·         Ability to work as a leader and member of a team.

·         Ability to use appropriate technology.

Minimum Experience:

·         Experience in coaching or administration of a scholastic athletic program.

·         Three years teaching experience.

·         Some supervisory experience.
